About Me

  • Rhea Kumar, LCSW

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Having been raised in an Indian household in Japan, Rhea brings a deeply personal understanding of the complexities that come with navigating multiple cultural identities. Her own experiences balancing Asian and American cultural expectations allow her to appreciate how challenging it can be to find your voice and sense of self across different worlds. She recognizes that living between varying definitions of “success” can create pressure and uncertainty, especially when it feels difficult to meet competing expectations. Rhea believes, however, that it is possible to find a meaningful balance—one that honors your upbringing, your present environment, and the person you are becoming.

Her goal is to support clients in navigating these dynamics with clarity and confidence, helping them balance external expectations and important relationships while protecting their mental well-being and fostering a strong sense of autonomy.

Rhea’s therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deep respect for each client’s unique journey. With over a decade of experience, she has become a trusted guide for individuals working through complex family dynamics, relationship challenges, and the nuanced influence of cultural expectations and norms. She integrates psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques to develop personalized, thoughtful treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
